I was
born in Springfield, Massachusetts sometime in the seventies… (My
secret). I was raised by a band of pan handling gypsies, who watched over
me until I was old enough to beg for my own supper… (My shame).
Seriously though, I grew up in a fairly stable, normal household with
a fairly stable, normal Mom, Dad and little brother, (who incidentally
is now at least 5 inches taller than me… thanks for making HIM eat
his Wheaties, Mom).
I grew up watching all the typical cartoons: He-Man, GI Joe, Transformers,
ThunderCats, etc. Then, one fine day, a friend got me into collecting
comic books (thanks Damien) and my life was irrevocably changed! I started
to read everything and anything I could get my hands on!
I admired and enjoyed the creativity and imagination that had I found
in those comic stories and dreamt that I would create my own comic book one
day.
Having grown up with and been entertained by great comic characters like
Spider-man, Batman, X-men, the Ninja Turtles, etc... I wanted to put something
of my own out into the world and just maybe... someone would read and
enjoy it! My
hope is that the stories I am writing now in Captain Drew and Unhappy
Gran'ma
will not only entertain, but inspire you to pursue your own dreams, whatever
they may be.

When Aaron
was small he was given the opportunity to see 3 very special movies in
the theater that started his long descent into sci-fi and comic books.
Of course those movies were the Holy Trinity, The Star Wars Trilogy. Getting
some of his innate artistic ability from his Mom (thanks Mom!), he nurtured
his gift and one day decided to draw a comic book. That comic was not
Captain Drew…that comes years later. He drew a book about bounty
hunting in a gritty Earth of the future. Alas, only being 11 or so, it
didn’t get too much publicity, except at a local comic shop, that
sold a total of 3 or 4 issues. But that didn’t stop him! Oh no!
He decided to start another! This one was of course…Captain Drew.
At the time, he was in High School, and the first few ideas started to
blossom. Now here it is 15 years later, and Drew is now a reality from
his imagination. Currently Aaron pencils Drew and handles
typography and layout, when he finds the time in between marathon sessions
of World of Warcraft!
Aaron hopes Drew
is just one title in a long list of ideas his head currently houses. You
think up a lot of ideas in 15 years ya know?
And yes, Aaron is
aware that his bio pic makes him look evil. He’s really a nice guy…or
so he says.
Through the correct twists of fate that make up our ho-hum "real-life"
universe, I somehow managed to get myself mixed up with these two freaks
to form something a lot more exciting than reality (and hopefully will
pay off the bills that this universe produces)
My quest to make a decent living off of a creative venture (which works
out since art is my only marketable talent) has led me to illustrating
a few books, animation in a PC game I've been sworn to never mention again
lest my tongue be removed, and even was involved in a project where my
work had to be approved by some silver-haired guy who made some "Warring
Stars" movie on 8mm film in his parents' basement (or something like
that, big-shots like me don't have time for "details" or "facts").
When I'm not working on Drew, I'm out hiking, taking photos, getting lost
in a mug of brew and live music, and trying however he can to make sure
he's gonna leave this world a better place than how he found it.

Markellus
may have been born in Chicago, but he spent his "childhood"
in Gotham City, Metropolis, and in a galaxy far, far away. After becoming
obsessed with movies in the summer of 1977, he soon began developing his
art of storytelling. One of his first comic books was the epic story,
"The Greatest Battle in the Universe", starring Superman, He-
Man, and Luke Skywalker (he was in 4th grade). Markellus later went on
to produce "Power Boy", somewhat popular amongst his sixth grade
class.
After
moving to Massachusetts, he was introduced to Tom VanZandt (Tommy Tom)
and was impressed with Tom's self-published comics. Inspiration hit, and
with a lot of help from other people, Markellus soon began producing his
own series called "The Almost Incredibly True Adventures of Mark
and Jay" (issue #4 coming soon). Markellus soon joined the Radbu
family and is thrilled to be working on Unhappy Gran'ma among other top-secret
projects.

Matt was a comic/Star Wars fan from day one, and still is. He started
drawing at a very young age and never stopped. Attained a 2 year visual fine
arts degree and started working for Mark Lewis Creative Arts while continuing
his education. Under Mark’s guidance, he did package design, shareware game
animation, conventions and concept art.
Matt then opened The Mine Studio, his own freelance studio that has been
producing quality comic books, freelance work and private lessons for over ten
years. Starting in a studio in Simsbury, Connecticut, (now a tanning salon,
snif) Matt was able to work on his art projects, teach private art lessons and
operate as a working sister studio to Mark Lewis Creative Arts. Since then,
his studio has done character design for large companies, published BIGGER
comics, painted and illustrated the DUNGEON DOWNLOADS gaming terrain cd,
package designs and has taken his lessons to a larger audience through the
Farmington Valley Arts Center Faculty.
